About the Read Write Rhyme Conference

The Read Write Rhyme Conference is an immersive literacy experience inspired by the creative arts. It brings educators, literacy scholars, and hip-hop practitioners together to examine the relationship between language, literacy, music, and learning.

The conference intentionally blends the Science of Reading with hip-hop, spoken word, visual arts, music, storytelling, and multimodal literacy. It is a space where research meets practice, where theory meets the classroom, and where educators leave energized and equipped.

Read Write Rhyme is an educational conference created and produced by The LaVoulle Group. The conference name, brand, program framework, original conference materials, and related intellectual property are owned by The LaVoulle Group.

Literacy Learners, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization supporting the literacy mission of Read Write Rhyme through educator scholarships, charitable sponsorships, grants, and community literacy programming.

The organizations operate independently while collaborating on initiatives designed to expand access to literacy education and professional learning.

What We Believe

Literacy is Cultural

Effective literacy instruction honors the cultural knowledge, language, and lived experiences students bring into the classroom.

Hip-Hop is a Literacy Practice

Hip-hop represents a complex literacy system — a discourse, a pedagogy, and an intellectual tradition that extends far beyond lyrical analysis.

Voice is Curriculum

When students are positioned as producers of knowledge — not just consumers — learning transforms.

Research Informs Practice

We ground our work in evidence while centering the wisdom of practitioners who live and teach in the communities we serve.
